All ads in the Google advertising system are eligible to be displayed in the Google search engine. Advertisers also have the option to allow their ads to appear on Google’s partner networks. This “search network” includes AOL Search, Ask.com, and Netscape. Ads displayed on partner networks do not affect the ad quality score.
The Google Display Network (GDN) displays Google Ads ads on non-search engine websites. These sites serve advertisers in AdSense accounts. AdSence is the other side of Google’s advertising model. AdSense is used by website owners who want to earn money by displaying an advertiser’s ads in the Google Ads system on their websites. CTRs on the Display Network are typically much lower than those on the Search Network, and the Quality Score for the Display Network is calculated separately from the Search Network.
In addition, Google automatically determines the topic of the page and displays relevant ads based on the advertiser’s keyword list. AdSense owners can choose channels to target Google’s on-page ad placements to improve their ad performance. There are many different types of ads that appear on the Google Network, including text ads, image or banner ads, mobile text ads, and in-page video ads.
